XBOX ONE E3 Conference Review

To Xbox gamers, E3 was like a second birthday in a year. Opening up with a HUGE load of update information coming to the xbox one. Backwards compatibility. That means, that any xbox one user can play their Xbox 360 on their next gen console (at no extra price). They will have the ability to play those games online, connected to the recent 360 servers. To me, that was only the beginning of being blown away! Microsoft is now producing a game-changing controller, (yes, the price will be quite high) but it comes with nearly limitless potential. I believe this controller will put the scuf xbox side of controllers out of business. Now, onto the bread and butter of gaming; the games. Beginning off with Halo 5: guardians. A little bit of gameplay was shown & WOW! Halo is taking a major step in their series. Having two protagonists, this game is surely not going to disappoint. Next up, we have Forza 6, Forza has paired with Ford Motor Companies into bringing back the Ford Gt. During the reveal, an actual GT floated down from the ceiling (watching I was blown away, just by the sight of the car) & then on screen, the game-made car appeared…an exact, like-like replica. You couldn’t tell a difference. Forza 6 is without a doubt, an upcoming game to get. Next to be introduced, was the highly anticipated Fallout 4. Produced by Bethesda, the release is set November 10, 2015. THIS YEAR! What an amazing breakage of news! Gameplay was also shared & let me tell you, if there is ONE game you need to get, it’s Fallout 4.

Although the gameplay of fallout 4 im sure blew everyone away, there was still a big reveal coming. Microsoft then unveiled their plans with the Hololens. Demonstrated by playing mine craft, viewers got to see by their own eyes, what the hololens did. The user created his mind craft world on top of an ordinary coffee table in which was fully accessible & changeable by the character. Astonishingly enough, the hololens wearer walked around the table & could see everything. Pick up everything & lastly move everything. Seeing it was a HUGE advance in the gaming industry & a massive step Microsoft took. The face of gaming is changing & Microsoft is changing it for the better. Finishing up E3, there were still quite a bit of questions, as to when these updates are released or when new products are purchasable from retailers. Everyone im sure is ready to get their hands on new development & can’t wait to test it out themselves. In due time, we will all have the goodies that we want. In my own opinion, I don’t know how Sony can compete, nor react to this step taken by the Microsoft Corporation; only time will tell. Until then, enjoy, & game on.

PlayStation Vue

PlayStation’s E3 briefing was last night, and it was announced that PlayStation would be offering single channel services, allowing you to pick which channels you want to subscribe to, without buying channel packages. That is huge! It will also come with Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus. Sony CEO Michael Lynton says they want PlayStation to be your one stop for all your entertainment needs, not just gaming.

Do the Graphics in Fallout 4 REALLY matter?

There has been a lot of scrutiny regarding the recent announcement trailer for Bethesdas Fallout 4.

As you can see from above, many Twitter users have expressed their displeasure with the graphics in Fallout 4.

Before you get your panties in a wad, just hear me out.
First of all the world of Fallout is a nuclear, radiation, destroyed world. If you’re expecting the wastelands and the world of Fallout to look like the Northern Realms of the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, then I’m sorry because that will not happen because the worlds are so vastly different. This world is mostly one color. Deteriation of just about everything has set in, and I don’t think citizens of the post nuclear United States care much about renovations to their scrap metal homes at the moment.
Bethesda doesn’t make graphically superior games. It’s not what their known for, with that being said, if you look at Fallout 4 with the view I have just given you, and not with a view of wanting this open world to be bright and vibrant with color and life then you will see it as a great work of graphic technology. Let me say it again, the world of Fallout is warped and lifeless, grey, and dangerous. If you take it for what it is, I think Bethesda has mastered the look for any post nuclear state. My opinion, this isn’t even a discussion.

Check out this image of the visuals in Fallout 4, some of the best vanilla lighting I’ve ever seen.. just  going to leave this here..

A Message for PC Gamers From a PC Gamer [Austin]

In the gaming industry, most gamers are introduced into the gaming world by console. Lots of players prefer playing console games due to the fact, well, everyone has one. But one platform is sometimes if not always overlooked. PC gaming is the constant “next-gen” gaming device. With consoles, you’re stuck with the same hardware, same graphic capability & just the same looking appearance of the device. In the PC world, there are endless amounts of progress you can achieve with your hardware & the customization is endless! I myself play on Xbox one & pc. Purchasing an xbox was so much different than building my own PC. I get so much more satisfaction being able to play on something I created with the best specs. Let’s not forget to mention the ability to play in 4k. (For those of you who don’t know, 4k is like 1080p on steroids). In choice, I choose PC gaming over consoles because the simple satisfaction I get from it.

ROCK BAND 4’S CAMPAIGN IS A STRAIGHT-UP RPG – IGN FIRST

Rock Band 4’s campaign is all about touring the world, amassing fans, and selling out — if you’re into that sort of thing. This is the first time we’re seeing meaningful narrative choices in a Rock Band game, and the direction you take your band dictates the shows you’ll play, the places you’ll visit, the gear you unlock, and the money you earn.

“When we started looking at all the new features we have in the game, mechanically, it just made sense for us to build this epic, branching story where instead of taking one rise to fame path through the world,” said Designer Alli Thresher. “You know, you go from your hometown to being the biggest band in the world, you choose…what kind of band you are.”

Rock Band 4 is a straight-up role-playing game that has more in common with the superb 80 Days than any previous Rock Band campaign — and it’s the first one I’ll play for any meaningful amount of time.

“It really deepens the band fantasy, and it really gives us the opportunity to answer some things we’ve been hearing from fans over the last five years and really, really amp up that feeling and the fantasy and dynamics of being in a band,” said Designer Alli Thresher. “Making decisions together, charting a path through your careers, building your story as a musician, and figuring out who you are.”

This means making tough choices about the kind of band you’re trying to build. “You can take corporate gigs and make a lot of money as a band, you can take a path to pursue your artistic integrity, and along the way, as you make these choices, the game kind of responds to you,” Thresher explained. “So, you might take a gig where you decide you are the spokesperson for off-brand salted meats and start your every gig by warming up the crowd telling them how much you like salted meats. And the crowd is not into it and booing and stuff, and you have to play really, really well to get them over it.”

That sort of crowd hostility plays into your career regardless. Not everyone likes every band, so you may end up playing a show for a crowd that isn’t into you. Winning them over takes skill. Failing out of a song is easier when the crowd already has a notion about you, so playing well is necessary to staying in it as well as winning those haters as fans.

On the other side of the coin, Thresher said, “you could take a path where maybe you decide you just want to, like, couch surf around the country, use social media to meet people and sleep on their floors. So, you’re not really making a lot of money, but maybe meeting enthusiastic crowds – maybe too enthusiastic – maybe meeting super fans and trying to navigate dealing with them.”

Less money means fewer guitars and character customization gear, but potentially better renown. It’s a series of risks, with each gig serving as your quest. Complete it, get loot for each member of your party, and move on better than you were before. You may encounter interesting challenges along the way, and the payout is worth the struggle.

Previously, Thresher admitted, fans meant very little. Their capital carried little weight. In Rock Band 4, “you accumulate fans per geographic location across the world, and fans gain you access to new opportunities that unlock special, cool – we’re still working on it – but special Easter Eggs and that kind of thing. So, if you have fans in a certain region, you might be able to have a cool metal gig, you might have a big set list, you might see avenues you haven’t seen before.”

You start in your hometown, but grow into a worldwide phenomenon, whether through intense commitment to your band or your label and sponsors. Your global tour could take you to entirely different continents from one play through to the next, and that’s really exciting. I replayed 80 Days to see what mysteries awaited in cities I skipped last time. To have similar structure in a cooperative Rock Band setting, where bandmates can bicker about the sort of story we want to tell for ourselves, the sort of legacy we want to leave, gives Rock Band 4’s story mode meaning for the first time.

Oculus Facing Another Lawsuit

Oculus VR and Palmer Luckey accused of breach of contract and fraud.
Oculus VR, the Facebook-owned company behind the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, is facing another lawsuit. As reported by Reuters, a new lawsuit filed this week makes serious accusations against Oculus VR and the Rift creator Palmer Luckey.
Per the report, the lawsuit accuses Luckey of “taking confidential information he learned while working with another company and passing it off as his own.”
The company in question is Total Recall Technologies. The Hawaii-based company says in its filing that it hired Luckey in 2011 to create a prototype virtual reality headset; he even signed a confidentiality agreement, the lawsuit says.
“Throughout the latter half of 2011 and into 2012, Luckey received feedback and information to improve the design of the display,” Reuters explains. “However, Luckey used information he learned from his partnership when he launched a Kickstarter campaign for his own head mounted display called the Oculus Rift, according to the lawsuit.”
Total Recall Technologies is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. However, a specific dollar amount was not mentioned in the suit. The lawsuit claims Luckey committed breach of contract and fraud.
When approached by Reuters, a representative for Facebook declined to comment on the lawsuit. We also reached out to Oculus, but the company declined to comment. Get the full story over at Reuters.
This isn’t the only lawsuit Oculus is currently facing. A year ago this week, Fallout parent publisher ZeniMax accused Oculus VR of stealing virtual reality technology that would later become the Rift.
Oculus recently announced that the Rift consumer model will be released in the first part of 2016, while the device’s PC system requirements have also been revealed. Pricing, however, is still under wraps.

What Remains of Edith Finch – House Introduction Trailer | PS4

What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of short stories about a cursed family in Washington state, brought to you by Giant Sparrow, the studio responsible for the surreal first-person painting game The Unfinished Swan.

Each story offers a chance to experience the life of a different family member with stories ranging from the early 1900s to the present day. The gameplay and tone of the stories are as varied as the family members themselves. The only constants are that each is played from a first-person perspective and that each story ends with that family member’s death. It’s a game about what it feels like to be humbled and astonished by the vast and unknowable world around us.

You’ll follow Edith Finch as she explores the history of her family and tries to figure out why she’s the last one in her family left alive.
